We are moving boldly into our future

We’re believing Seacoast Church will continue to be a place that helps more and more people find God, grow their faith, discover their purpose, and make a difference. With a record number of first-time guests coming through our doors, we believe more than ever that the most important next step we can take is expanding our Mount Pleasant location.

Before There Was a Church
There Was a Vision

A small group of people dreamed of reaching the unchurched of Charleston with the power of the Gospel. They wanted to find people who were far from God, meet them right where they were, and help them become fully devoted followers of Christ. Seacoast Church launched Easter of 1988 with 340 people.

We are moving boldly into our future

When Seacoast began in 1988, there were 24,000 people living in Mount Pleasant. Today, the town is bursting at the seams, with the Census Bureau estimating that over 81,000 people call Mount Pleasant home. It continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in the country and shows no signs of slowing down. We need our Mount Pleasant location to keep pace with this explosive growth. Here’s what excites us: When our Mount Pleasant campus grows, it will impact all of our other locations. We’ll be able to do more than ever before, both locally and globally. Addressing the needs in Mount Pleasant isn’t a move away from multisite; it is an investment in multisite by focusing on the location that can impact everywhere else.

Expanding the Mount Pleasant facility provides the resources to better serve all of our campuses and especially their communities. Mount Pleasant isn’t going to stop growing anytime soon. The question is, “Will Seacoast be a church they can call home?” If the answer is “Yes!” then we need to make sure there is enough room for all of the people looking for that church home. To do that, we believe that God is calling us to take the needed steps of faith to expand our current worship center capacity from 1,300 people per service to 2,500 people per service.

In 2006, we created the Possibilities Center; a space created to help the next generation find God. The children that have encountered Jesus in those nurseries and classrooms have now become students, and we want to give them the current Mount Pleasant worship center while we build their future church. If we do our part, when the time comes they will have a place for their families to find and experience God.

Seacoast exists because of a God-given vision

Through the years, people just like you have come along side that vision and helped create a place where others are able to encounter God each weekend. We want to invite you to be a part of what God is going to do at Seacoast in the future. We are going to see thousands of lives changed for eternity and you can be a part of that by committing to give sacrificially to the Imagine Initiative over the next year.

More Than We Could
Ask or Imagine

Today, nearly 30 years later, about 15,000 people gather every weekend in a dozen locations and online, in 2016 our campuses welcomed a record 6,921 first-time guests into our doors, and baptized 584 people. Yet, more importantly, these numbers represent stories of people whose lives have been changed by Christ working through His Church in our community and around the world.

Imagine With Us

When we expand our Mount Pleasant building, we believe we will see exponential growth, growth that radiates outward. To realize this vision, we will need a new worship facility, lobby, additional parking, and to reconfigure the existing spaces to better serve our children and students.

Building Phase 1

Clearing land and paving new parking lots

of total cost

months to complete

The first phase is important for two reasons: to increase parking and make up for the spaces where the new facility will be. So we’re expanding our parking lot all the way to Whipple Road.

Building Phase 2

Adding a 2,500 seat worship center and lobby

of total cost

months to complete

We will expand our current worship center capacity from 1,300 people to 2,500 people. The new facility will be built in the front parking lot of the existing building and connected with a new lobby.

Building Phase 3

Renovation of existing spaces and furnishings

of total cost

months to complete

The existing church building will be renovated and refurnished in order to accommodate our growing children and student ministries.

Be a Part of the Story

For some of us it might be as simple as giving up a latte or two per week. For others it might mean delaying a purchase or repurposing resources. Each person’s commitment will look different, as God speaks to all of us individually. All we ask is that you prayerfully consider what you would be able to give above your regular giving or tithe.
